Malaysian Industry-Government inks agreement with Western Cape Fine Food

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), a non-profit grouping inked agreement with Western Cape Fine Food Initiative (WCFFI) of South Africa to support business partnership in the halal industry between Malaysia and South Africa.

MIGHT said in a press release on Thursday that the partnership would capitalise on Malaysia’s status as a leader in developing halal standards across various industries as well as South Africa’s position in the African continent as an advanced agro-processing economy with a increasing demand for its products globally.

“This agreement is expected to increase the potentials for access to more markets where there is a demand for halal products and services,” it said.

Currently, WCFFI has been engaging actively with the South African government and the private sector to carry forward with the project of creating value in the agro-processing sector via halal hub concept.
