Hopes for lower cost in unit trust industry

KUALA LUMPUR: The Securities Commission (SC) hopes to see a reduction in the cost management structure of the unit trust industry for sustainable growth.

SC executive chairman Datuk Ranjit Ajit Singh, who noted that the regulator did not oversee the industry’s fees, said unit trust companies should strive towards a restructuring of the fees and hoped that it would happen this year. “We would like to see the cost structure come down and this is something we will work on this year,” he said at a briefing with editors before the release of the regulator’s 2014 annual report.
