Downward revision in electricity tariffs

A TNB outlet in Puchong, Selangor, TNB will benefit from lower gas usage.

WHILE the Government had recently announced there would be no hike in electricity tariffs this year, consumers may see electricity tariffs revised downward in the second half of this year due lower coal prices and Tenaga Nasional Bhd’s (TNB) lesser reliance on gas power plants.

According to a source, TNB along with other power-generation companies such as Malakoff Corp Bhd were now opting for higher coal usage for their power generation.
