George Kent posts RM7.2mil net profit for Q3


KUALA LUMPUR: George Kent (Malaysia) Bhd's net profit for its third quarter ended Oct 31, 2014 rose 2.19% to RM7.22mil from RM7.07mil a year ago.

In a statement to Bursa Malaysia on Monday, the group said revenue for the period rose 33.6% to RM96.03mil from RM71.85mil a year ago.

Earnings per share rose 1.20 sen from 1.50 sen the same period last year.

For its nine months to-date, its net profit rose 11.68% to RM19.79mil from RM17.72mil a year ago while revenue was fown 1.48% to RM235.93mil from RM239.49mil a year ago.

The group said its revenue was contributed by its manufacturing and trading division, backed by new contracts secured in Vietnam and Singapore.

Higher construction revenue was mainly contributed by the Ampang LRT Line Extension project.

"As a result, the group reported a higher PBT of RM27.7mil and PAT of RM19.87 mil, an improvement of 3.5% and 11.7% respectively compared to the corresponding period in FYE2014," it said.

Moving forward, the group will continue with its efforts to grow the order book as part of the board's strategies. 

"It will also continue to focus on enhancing the capability, efficiency and productivity of the manufacturing facilities," it said.

The group added that it is optimistic of its prospects for the financial year ending Jan 31, 2015.
