Not many people outside the oil and gas (O&G) industry knew that the groundwork for Malaysia’s second liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal was at its tail-end until an announcement last Friday.
Although it had been previously announced that two other regasification terminals, which would enable the import of LNG, would be built following the current one near Sg Udang, Malacca, the announcements by Petronas Gas Bhd and Dialog Group Bhd for a partnership to build an LNG regasification plant in Pengerang, southern Johor, still took the general market by surprise.
