RHB Cap falls on lower Q3 earnings


KUALA LUMPUR: Shares of RHB Capital fell at mid-afternoon on Thursday after it posted lower earnings for its third quarter ended Sept 30, 2014.

At 2.44pm, is shares fell 10 sen to RM8.35 with 153,200 shares done between RM8.33 and RM8.48.

The FBM KLCI was down 5.95 to 1,818.44. Turnover was 849.86 million shares valued at RM684.12mil. There were 182 gainers, 477 decliners and 285 counters unchanged.

The bank's net profit for its third quarter fell 2.5% to RM544.61mil from RM559.15mil in the same period last year.

Revenue, however, surged to RM2.7bil from RM2.46bil.

Earnings per share stood at 21.20 sen against 22.20 sen the year earlier.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia on Thursday, the bank attributed the 3.3% weaker pre-tax profit to lower impairment write back on other assets, higher impairment allowances for loans and financing and higher other operating expenses.
