Sime eyes at least 51% stake in NBPOL to control the PNG plantation giant


KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Bhd, which launched a general offer for London-listed New Britain Palm Oil Ltd (NBPOL) last month, said it would be happy to have at least a 51% stake in the latter, thereby giving it control over the Papua New Guinea plantation giant.

“For us having 51% in NBPOL would be ideal,” Sime Darby Bhd chief executive officer and president Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh said after the group’s EGM.
