PETALING JAYA: The introduction of the goods and services tax (GST) is timely to cushion any fall in the Government’s revenue collection amid falling crude oil prices, a report by Alliance Research says.
Its economist Manokaran Mottain wrote in the report that as the Government’s budget had long relied on the volatile oil and gas sector for revenue contributions, the sustainability of this dependency was now showing signs of cracking.
