JAKARTA: Indonesia’s trade balance swung back into deficit in August, contrary to expectations and a reminder of the economic challenges President-elect Joko Widodo faces when he takes office this month.
The statistics bureau yesterday reported a US$318mil deficit in August, compared to the median forecast in a Reuters poll for a US$170mil surplus and to July’s revised surplus of US$42.2mil.
