Maybank Q2 earnings at RM1.575b, dividend 24 sen

KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) posted net profit of RM1.575bil in the second quarter ended June 30, 2104, up 0.5% from RM1.567bil a year ago as gains from the pick-up in loans during the quarter were pared by lower fee income mainly as a result of the slower regional investment banking and global markets activities.

It said on Thursday profit before tax rose 7.6% to RM2.25bil from RM2.09bil a year ago. Revenue rose 1.98% to RM8.759bil from RM8.588bil. Earnings per share were 17.47 sen compared with 18.23 sen.
