KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's industrial production index (IPI) in May increased by 6% from a year ago, boosted by strong manufacturing growth, and exceeded economists expectations of a slower 4.2% increase.
The Statistics Department said on Thursday the May industrial output was up 0.6% from April. The IPI in April was adjusted to a 4.9% growth from a year ago.
