LONDON: Britain has become the first Western country to sell an Islamic bond, drawing orders of more than £2bil, over 10 times the planned issue amount.
The five-year sukuk issue, intended to raise £200mil, is being launched by the government as part of an effort to boost London’s position as a centre for Islamic finance.
