BANGKOK: Thailand’s central bank surprisingly kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 2.25%, saying it is still appropriate and that political unrest should have only a short-term impact on growth.
The Bank of Thailand’s Monetary Policy Committee voted 43 to keep the one-day repurchase rate unchanged at 2.25% after a surprise cut in November, when anti-government protests had just begun.
