PETALING JAYA: Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd hopes the Government will maintain the current excise duties on the brewery sector in the upcoming budget “as it is the right thing to do,” said managing director Henrik J. Andersen.
“The Malaysian taxes on beer are already the second highest in the world, and by far the highest in Asia. We feel that a further hike will not be in favour of what the Government is trying to achieve,” said Andersen, also regional chief executive officer for South-East Asia.
