Naza in landmark deal to market the Koenigsegg

ANGELHOLM (SWEDEN): In a landmark deal, Naza Swedish Motors Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Naza Group, has inked a franchise agreement with Koenigsegg Automotive AB for the distributorship of the world’s fastest and lightest hyper car, the Koenigsegg.

Naza has been partnered to provide the marketing, distributorship and after-sales service of Koenigsegg cars in Malaysia and Indonesia.

“This is a very important partnership for us. This is the best brand that you could ask for. It is a recognition (for us) to work with Koenigsegg,” said Naza Group of companies joint group executive chairman Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin.

He added that the Koenigsegg Agera S model, its service centre and showroom would be ready by the first quarter of next year. The price for the Koenigsegg starts at approximately US$1.3mil (RM4.3mil).

The founder and chief executive officer of Koenigsegg, Christian Koenigsegg, said there was no better option than Naza, as it had the reputation and financial muscle, and understood the business well.

The Koenigsegg presently holds the Guinness World Records for the fastest car in production - it is able to accelerate from 0 to 300kmph and back in 21.19 seconds.

The Koenigsegg has won four Guinness World Records in the past 10 years.

Since the launch of the Koenigsegg in 1994, the company has delivered 102 cars, all of which are built-to-order.

“The next area of growth is South-East Asia. The traction is growing. The new generation is willing to spend. They travel more and have seen more,” said Koenigsegg director and head of sales Andreas Petre.

“We want to deliver up to 14 cars globally in 2014,” said Petre.

The company is headquartered in the Angelholm airfield in Sweden.

The main markets are in the Middle East, China and the United States.

This year, it has received 15 orders and delivered eight cars. Over the years, Koenigsegg and his team had introduced and patented several technologies, notably the “rocket” catalytic converter, the supercharger response system and a variable turbo system.
