BEIJING: Chinese manufacturing activity expanded for the first time in four months in August, according to a closely watched indicator Thursday, pointing to renewed strength in the world's second-largest economy.
HSBC said the preliminary reading of its purchasing managers' index (PMI) came in at 50.1 for the month, up from July's 47.7, which was an 11-month low.
