UEM Turkish deal falls through, hinders overseas expansion


PETALING JAYA: An unexpected glitch has hindered UEM Group Bhd's overseas expansion plans the Turkish government is cancelling the sale of its highway and bridges to UEM Group.

In a surprising television interview, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his government had decided to cancel the initial tender won by a consortium made up of UEM Group Bhd, Koc Holding and Gzde Girisim Sermayesi Yatirim Ortaklig, because the “figure was low”.
