Euro Deposit Invest scheme: SC files civil suit against RBTR Asset Mgmt, 7 others

KUALA LUMPUR: The Securities Commission has filed a civil suit against RBTR Asset Management (RBTR) and seven other defendants following a probe into the Euro Deposit Investment scheme.

It said on Thursday it had taken the action against them for various breaches of the securities laws.

The civil action, which was filed in the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Jan 23, had named two companies -- Locke Guaranty Trust Ltd, New Zealand (LGT) and Locke Capital Investments Ltd, British Virgin Island (LCI).

The five individuals were Al Alim Mohd Ibrahim, Valentine Khoo, Isaac Paul Ratnam, Nicholas Chan Weng Sung and Joseph Lee Chee Hock.

"The civil suit was filed following SC's investigations into the affairs of RBTR in 2009 after receiving complaints from investors, particularly those who had invested in its Euro Deposit Investment scheme," the SC said.
